Regular Season Round 10: S.Jose/Unimed - Flamengo 71-94

The most important game in the last round took place in Sao Jose between third ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (6-4) and sixth ranked Flamengo (6-2) on Friday night. Sao Jose/Vinac was crushed by Flamengo at home 94-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sao Jose/Vinac. The game was mostly controlled by Flamengo. Sao Jose/Vinac managed to win third quarter 25-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. International Vitor Benite (191-90) scored 24 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Marcelo Machado (201-75, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 19 points during the contest. At the losing side American-Jordanian swingman Jimmy Baxter (193-80, college: S.Florida) responded with 19 points and the former international power forward William Drudi (206-81) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Flamengo have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Bauru. Sao Jose/Vinac at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Vivo/Franca. Flamengo is looking forward to face Brasilia (#13) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sao Jose/Vinac will play against Paulistano (#10) in Sao Paolo and is hoping to win this game.
