Regular Season Round 9: Valur - FSU 84-95

Date: December 12, 2014
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Reykjavik. Second ranked FSU faced 4th placed Valur. Guests from Selfoss (7-1) defeated host Valur (4-4) 95-84. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Valur. The guests trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 11 points. FSU made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. American forward Collin Pryor (198, college: Northern St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and point guard Ari Gylfason (186-89) chipped in 24 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Danero Thomas (193-86, college: Murray St.) with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Benedikt Blondal (188-93) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. FSU have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 7-1 record behind leader Hottur. Loser Valur keeps the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with IA. FSU will meet at home Hamar (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Valur will play against the league's leader Hottur in Egilsstadir and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the Dominos League just one year after relegation.
