Regular Season Round 21: Jefes - Panteras 110-96

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Jefes (12-8) beat at home 9th ranked Panteras (8-11) 110-96. Panteras were tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Jefes dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Panteras' 40. They outrebounded Panteras 36-21 including 22 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Dan Jennings (206-90, college: Long Beach St.) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Jordan Glynn (200-89, college: SF Austin) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. Jefes' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Puerto Rican point guard Ricardo Melendez (179-83) who recorded 30 points and 5 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and Panamanian power forward Antonio Garcia (203-76, college: Ky Wesleyan) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Four Jefes and five Panteras players scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Jefes. They moved-up to sixth place. Panteras at the other side keep the ninth position with 11 games lost. Jefes' next round opponent will be Barreteros (#13) in Zacatecas and are hoping to win another game. Panteras will play on the road against Fuerza Regia (#7) in Monterrey and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
