Regular Season Round 18: Bayi R. - Shanghai S. 88-100

Everything went according to plan in Ningbo where twelfth ranked Shanghai Sharks (9-9) beat 17th ranked Bayi Rockets (3-15) 100-88. The game was mostly controlled by Shanghai Sharks. Bayi Rockets was better in second period 31-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Bayi Rockets 46-34 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Michael Beasley (208-89, college: Kansas St.) who led his team to a victory with 31 points and 6 rebounds. The former international center ZhaoXu Zhang (221-87, college: California) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Guard Yuxiang Tian (185-92) replied with 15 points, 7 assists and 5 steals and the former international forward Lei Wang (203-86) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Bayi Rockets. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shanghai Sharks moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Shandong FB and Foshan LL. Bayi Rockets lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighteenth position with 15 games lost. Shanghai Sharks' next round opponent will be Chongqing FD (#19) in Guangzhou and are hoping to win another game. Bayi Rockets will play on the road against Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank in Hangzhou and hope to win that game.
