Regular Season Round 9: Hottur - KFI 80-62

Leader Hottur delivered the eighth victory. This time they beat 7th ranked KFI (2-8) 80-62 in Egilsstadir. The game was mostly controlled by Hottur. KFI was better in second period 19-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding KFI to just 6 points in first quarter. Hottur made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American guard Tobin Carberry (193-91, college: LIU Post) nailed a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and forward Hreinn Birgisson (190-89) accounted for 13 points and 8 rebounds. Carberry is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Center Birgir Petursson (205-86) came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds and Serbian swingman Nebojsa Knezevic (196-87) added 13 points respectively for KFI in the defeat. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Hottur. They maintain first place with 8-2 record. KFI lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with eight games lost. Hottur's next round opponent will be Valur (#5) in Reykjavik. KFI will play on the road against IA in Akranes and hope to win that game.
