Regular Season Round 9: West Coast - Dandenong R. 77-86
Date: December 12, 2014
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Perth where 6th ranked West Coast Waves (4-7) were defeated by seventh ranked Dandenong Rangers (5-7) 86-77. West Coast Waves were tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. It was a great shooting night for Dandenong Rangers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. It was a good game for the former international forward Penny Taylor (185-81) who led her team to a victory with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international Kathleen Macleod (167-86) contributed with 18 points and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Dandenong Rangers players scored in double figures. The former international guard Deanna Smith (179-80) answered with 24 points and point guard Sarah Graham (163-89) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for West Coast Waves. West Coast Waves' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Dandenong Rangers moved-up to fifth place. West Coast Waves lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with seven games lost. Dandenong Rangers' next round opponent will be higher ranked Sydney Uni Flames (#4) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. West Coast Waves will play against Canberra Capitals and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
