We should mention about the upset which took place in Orvieto, where higher ranked Cagliari CUS (6-6) was outleveled in a road game by thirteenth ranked Orvieto (3-9) 91-64. The game without a history. Orvieto led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 16-of-16 charity shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Orvieto forced 19 Cagliari CUS turnovers and outrebounded them 38-22 including a 35-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American guard Kirby Burkholder (183, college: JMU, agency: LBM Management) who scored that evening 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Czech center Renata Brezinova (190-90, agency: LBM Management) supported her with 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Orvieto players scored in double figures. Even 12 points by naturalized Serbian guard Milica Micovic (182-84, agency: Players Group) did not help to save the game for Cagliari CUS. American guard Tricia Liston (185-92, college: Duke) added 10 points and 6 rebounds. Orvieto moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with La Spezia. Cagliari CUS at the other side keeps the seventh position with six games lost. Orvieto's next round opponent will be higher ranked Umbertide (#3) on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
