Regular Season Round 21: Aomori Watts - Tokyo Cinq R. 73-65

Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (4-17) lost on the road to fifth ranked Aomori Watts (12-9) 73-65 on Saturday. Tokyo Cinq R. trailed by 15 points at halftime and as many as 18 after three quarters before a 28-18 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 65-73 at the end of the game. Aomori Watts dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Cinq R.'s 28. It was a good game for American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American forward Damian Saunders (203-88, college: Duquesne) contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Aomori Watts' coach Koshirashi Munakata used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Will Foster (226-88, college: Gonzaga) answered with 7 points, 21 rebounds and 4 blocks and the other American import swingman Jemal Farmer (195-89, college: Arkansas, agency: Blacktop Management) added 25 points in the effort for Tokyo Cinq R.Aomori Watts maintains fifth place with 12-9 record, which they share with Niigata Albirex. Loser Tokyo Cinq R. keeps the tenth position with 17 games lost. Aomori Watts will face again Tokyo Cinq R. (#10) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
