Regular Season Round 22: Abejas - Halc.Rojos 79-86

LNBP top team - Halcones Rojos (17-3) added another victory to their record. This time they beat eighth ranked Abejas (9-12) in Guanajuato 86-79. The guests were already 16 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 20-11 Abejas' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 86-79 at the end of the game. American forward Devin Ebanks (206-89, college: W.Virginia, agency: Interperformances) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and international guard Francisco Cruz (190-89, college: Wyoming) supported him with 14 points and 5 assists. Four Halcones Rojos players scored in double figures. Even 27 points and 6 rebounds by American forward Steffphon Pettigrew (195-89, college: W.Kentucky) did not help to save the game for Abejas. American-Jamaican forward McHugh Mattis (198-84, college: S.Florida) added 19 points and 13 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Halcones Rojos have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 17-3 record. Abejas lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 12 games lost. Halcones Rojos will play against Jefes (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Abejas will play against Gigantes in Toluca and hope to get back on the winning track.
