Regular Season Round 22: Soles - Pioneros 81-89

Date: December 13, 2014
The most important game in the last round took place in Mexicali between second ranked Soles (15-8) and fifth ranked Pioneros (13-6) on Saturday night. Soles were defeated by Pioneros in a tough game at home 81-89. Soles trailed by 17 points after 3 quarters before a 35-26 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 81-89 at the end of the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Soles helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) scored 27 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St.) chipped in 18 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Ghanian-British forward Matthew Bryan-Amaning (205-88, college: Washington) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Zach Graham (198-89, college: Mississippi) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pioneros moved-up to fourth place. Soles at the other side keep the second position with eight games lost. Pioneros are looking forward to face Titanicos (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. Soles will have a break next round.
