Regular Season Round 12: Gipuzkoa UPV - Zamarat 81-86

The biggest surprise of round 12 in LFB was guest Zamarat's (6-6) road victory over 7th ranked Gipuzkoa UPV (5-7) 86-81 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Gipuzkoa UPV. The best player for the winners was Portuguese center Sofia Silva (187-90) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds. Bosnian center Dragana Svitlica (190-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Five Zamarat players scored in double figures. Zamarat's coach Juan De Mena used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Maria Gomez (170-82) who recorded 32 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Lenita Sanford (190-89, college: UNLV) added 17 points and 20 rebounds respectively. Zamarat moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Gernika. Gipuzkoa UPV at the other side dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with Ferrol. Zamarat is looking forward to face Gran Canaria (#11) in Las Palmas in the next round where they are favorite. Gipuzkoa UPV will play on the road against Rivas Ecopolis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
