Regular Season Round 12: Niigata R. - Denso Iris 47-80

WJBL top team - Denso Iris (9-2) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed tenth ranked Niigata R. (1-10) in Tokyo 80-47. The game without a history. Denso Iris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata R.'s 24. Denso Iris forced 22 Niigata R. turnovers and outrebounded them 37-26 including 23 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Niigata R.'s players. It was a good game for the former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) who led her team to a victory with 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). International guard Minami Iju (168-90) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Swingman Sangi Kanade (169-86) replied with 18 points and 4 steals and the former international guard Hiromi Iwamura (168-81) added 8 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Niigata R.The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Denso Iris have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-2 record, which they share with Fujitsu RW. Niigata R. lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with ten games lost. Denso Iris will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Niigata R. will play on the road against Chanson V-M (#4) in Shizuoka and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
