Seventh-ranked Guangdong Dolphins (6-9) gave a tough game to fourth ranked Jiangsu Phoenix (10-5) in Yixing on Saturday. Jiangsu Phoenix managed to secure only three-point victory 91-88. However their fans expected easier game. Guangdong Dolphins were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Jiangsu Phoenix made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for forward Yi Qiang (193-94) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. International point guard Xiaojia Chen (177-88) helped adding 19 points and 8 assists. At the losing side American center Aneika Henry (193-86, college: Florida) responded with 27 points and 9 rebounds (made all of her nine free throws !!!) and international guard LiWei Liwei (175-95) scored 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Jiangsu Phoenix moved-up to third place in Places 1-8, which they share with Shanxi. Guangdong Dolphins lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with nine games lost. Jiangsu Phoenix is looking forward to face league's second-placed Shanghai Octopus on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Guangdong Dolphins will play against Heilongjiang Chenneng (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
