Regular Season Round 21: Takamatsu FA - Akita NH 78-95

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Akita Happinets (17-4) defeated on the road 6th ranked Takamatsu FA (7-14) 95-78 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Akita Happinets. Takamatsu FA was better in fourth quarter 32-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Akita Happinets shot 20 for 27 from the free-throw line, while Takamatsu FA only scored four points from the stripe. They outrebounded Takamatsu FA 51-25 including a 38-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Akita Happinets looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-90) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). American swingman Richard Roby (198-85) contributed with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Akita Happinets' coach Makoto Hasegawa used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Justin Watts (196-90, college: N.Carolina) answered with 27 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import swingman Dexter Lyons (198-81, college: Cent.Florida, agency: I.D.S. Law) added 19 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Takamatsu FA. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Akita Happinets. They maintain second place with 17-4 record having just three points less than leader Kyoto Hannar. Takamatsu FA lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 14 games lost. Akita Happinets will have a break next round. Takamatsu FA will play again at home against the league's second-placed Akita Happinets (#2) and hope to win that game.
