Regular Season Round 11: Proteas - Panathlitikos 72-44

A1 top team - Proteas (11-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed tenth ranked Panathlitikos (1-11) in Voula 72-44. The game was mostly controlled by Proteas. Panathlitikos was better in fourth quarter 11-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Panathlitikos to just 7 points in first quarter. Proteas held Panathlitikos to an opponent 23.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 49.1 percent accuracy of the winners. Proteas had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Panathlitikos' players. It was a great evening for international center Maria Fasoula (190-97) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. The former international swingman Olga Hatzinkolaou (181-81, agency: Josep and Nicolas) helped adding 14 points and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Proteas players scored in double figures. Proteas' coach Alekos Daglas felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Panagiots Tsambouri (170-81) responded with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Czech center Anastasia Toska (185-71) scored 7 points and 7 rebounds. Proteas have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-1 record, which they share with Panathinaikos. Panathlitikos lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Proteas will play against PAOK (#4) in Thessaloniki in the next round. Panathlitikos will play at home against Terpsithea (#6) to get more than just one victory in their record.
