Regular Season Round 11: Orchy - Denain 77-66

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Denain Voltaire (7-4) against sixth ranked Orchesien BC (8-3) on Sunday night. Visiting Denain Voltaire was defeated by Orchesien BC in Orchies 77-66. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Denain Voltaire. The game was mostly controlled by Orchesien BC. Denain Voltaire was better in fourth quarter 23-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Orchesien BC dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Denain Voltaire's 32 and made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American swingman Jared Newson (195-84, college: Tenn-Martin) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import Chris Daniels (200-82, college: Georgia) accounted for 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Four Orchesien BC players scored in double figures. Naturalized Ghanian guard Billy Ouattara (191-92) came up with 10 points and 8 rebounds and Benoit Gillet (191-86) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Denain Voltaire in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Orchesien BC moved-up to third place. Denain Voltaire at the other side dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Orchesien BC will play against league's second-placed Chorale de Roanne at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Denain Voltaire will play against Poitiers (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
