Regular Season Round 17: Toshiba BT - Hitachi SR 57-71

An interesting game for Hitachi Sunrockers (16-4) which played road game in Kanagawa against 3rd placed Toshiba Thunders (11-7). First ranked Hitachi Sunrockers managed to get a 14-point victory 71-57. The game was mostly controlled by Hitachi Sunrockers. Toshiba Thunders was better in fourth quarter 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Toshiba Thunders 51-31 including a 36-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. American power forward Joshua Heytvelt (210-86, college: Gonzaga) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and international power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85, agency: N.E.T.) chipped in 18 points and 16 rebounds. American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds and the other American import guard Cedric Bozeman (198-83, college: UCLA) scored 6 points and 6 rebounds. Toshiba Thunders' coach rotated twelve players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hitachi Sunrockers maintains first place with 16-4 record. Defending champion Toshiba Thunders keep the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Toyota Alvark and Hiroshima D.. Hitachi Sunrockers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toshiba Thunders will play on the road against Tsukuba R. and hope to get back on the winning track.
