Regular Season Round 13: MKS DG 2 - Pogon RS 77-100

Everything could happen in Dabrowa Gornicza at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Pogon RS and 9th ranked MKS DG 2 had identical 4-7 record. But MKS DG 2 was not able to use a home court advantage and was outscored by the opponent from Ruda Slaska 100-77 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by Pogon RS. MKS DG 2 was better in fourth quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pogon RS dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to MKS DG 2's 28. Pogon RS forced 23 MKS DG 2 turnovers and had a 37-25 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of center Adam Andula (201-87) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Adam Wilkin (194-83) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Pogon RS players scored in double figures. Mateusz Szczypinski (192-98) answered with 24 points and point guard Patryk Wieczorek (187-96) added 10 points and 9 assists in the effort for MKS DG 2. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Pogon RS maintains eighth place in Group C with 5-7 record. MKS DG 2 at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. Pogon RS will face higher ranked Polonia Bytom (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. MKS DG 2 will play against Cieszyn (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
