Regular Season Round 22: Jefes - Barreteros 84-78

Very predictable result when sixth ranked Jefes (13-8) defeated at home 13th ranked Barreteros (4-16) 84-78 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 14 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning two of next three quarters and won the game by 6 points. Jefes dominated on the defensive end, holding Barreteros to just 5 points in fourth quarter. They also forced 25 Barreteros turnovers. American-Cape Verdean swingman B.J. Monteiro (195-90, college: Duquesne) fired 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American forward Jordan Glynn (200-89, college: SF Austin) chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds. American center Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) produced 19 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import Devon Pearson (198-84, college: SMU) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Barreteros players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Jefes have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Newly promoted Jefes maintains sixth position with 13-8 record. Barreteros lost sixth consecutive game. Barreteros at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the thirteenth place with 16 games lost. Jefes will meet league's leader Halcones Rojos in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Barreteros will play against Huracanes (#5) and hope to secure a win.
