Regular Season Round 13: Oviedo - Clinicas Rincon 80-83

There was a minor upset when 11th ranked Oviedo CB (5-7) was edged at home by thirteenth ranked Clinicas Rincon (4-8) 83-80 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 26-21. But Oviedo CB won second period 15-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Clinicas Rincon shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 55.6 percentage. The former international power forward Ricardo Guillen (207-76, agency: Duran International) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and swingman Alfonso Sanchez (198-87) chipped in 28 points and 4 assists. At the losing side point guard Joan Creus (185-92) responded with 10 points and 6 assists and American center Kyle Tresnak (208-92, college: Weber St.) scored 13 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Oviedo CB's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Clinicas Rincon have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain thirteenth place with 4-8 record. Loser Oviedo CB dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. Clinicas Rincon will face league's second-placed Planasa NV in Pamplona in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
