Regular Season Round 14: Haukar - Valur 62-54

The game between Top Four teams took place in Hafnarfjordur. Third ranked host Haukar (9-3) defeated 4th ranked Valur (7-6) 62-54. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-12. But Valur won third quarter 14-8. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Haukar forced 20 Valur turnovers. The best player for the winners was American swingman Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Forward Dagbjoert Samuelsdottir (178-93) chipped in 14 points. Haukar's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Ragnheidur Benonisdottir (185-94) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and the former international forward Fanney Gudmundsdottir (179-89) added 9 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Haukar have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 9-3 record having four points less than leader Snaefell. Loser Valur dropped to the fifth place with six games lost. Haukar will meet KR (#6) in the next round. Valur will play against Grindavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
