There was no surprise when 6th ranked Takamatsu FA (7-15) was outplayed at home by second ranked Akita Happinets (18-4) 107-77 on Sunday. The game without a history. Akita Happinets led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Takamatsu FA's 42. They outrebounded Takamatsu FA 45-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. Akita Happinets looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Takamatsu FA's players. The game was dominated by American players. Swingman Richard Roby (198-85) scored 32 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and forward Deshawn Stephens (203-89, college: San Diego St.) chipped in 18 points and 16 rebounds during the contest. Akita Happinets' coach Makoto Hasegawa felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side swingman Justin Watts (196-90, college: N.Carolina) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 17 rebounds and swingman Dexter Lyons (198-81, college: Cent.Florida, agency: I.D.S. Law) scored 20 points and 4 assists. Five Akita Happinets and four Takamatsu FA players scored in double figures. Akita Happinets have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 18-4 record having just two points less than leader Kyoto Hannar. Takamatsu FA lost eighth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with 15 games lost. Akita Happinets will face Tokyo Cinq R. (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Takamatsu FA will play against Shimane Magic and hope to win that game.
