Regular Season Round 10: PMINA Esfahan - Qazvin 76-85

The most shocking disappointment of round 10 in the Superleague was a home defeat of 5th ranked PMINA Esfahan (3-5) to sixth ranked Qazvin (4-4) 85-76 in the game for the fifth place. It ended the three-game winning streak of PMINA Esfahan. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But PMINA Esfahan won third quarter 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Qazvin won last quarter 22-14. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to PMINA Esfahan's 18. Qazvin forced 25 PMINA Esfahan turnovers. Strangely PMINA Esfahan outrebounded Qazvin 44-31 including a 21-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by PMINA Esfahan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. International center Mohammad Yousofvand (207-96) scored 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Vahid Eslami (197) chipped in 14 points during the contest. At the losing side the former international swingman Iman Zandi (188-81) responded with 20 points and point guard Ramin Honarmand (175-90) scored 14 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Qazvin moved-up to fifth place. Newly promoted PMINA Esfahan dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Qazvin are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Sanaye (#9) in Mahshahr in the next round. PMINA Esfahan will play on the road against Petrochimi in Bandar Imam and is hoping to win this game.
