Regular Season Round 9: Thor AK - IA 82-83

Important game to mention about took place in Akureyri. Fifth ranked IA (4-4) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging bottom-ranked Thor AK (0-9) 83-82 on Monday evening. It looked good early as Thor AK took an 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then IA had a 28-18 second period charge getting the lead and Thor AK was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 82-83. It was a good game for American point guard Jamarco Warren (180-88, college: Charleston So.) who saved his team from a defeat with 28 points and 9 assists. point guard Askell Jonsson (188-86) contributed with 25 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Warren is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Frisco Sandidge (198-87, college: Delaware St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 21 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Vic Ian Damasin (179-92) added 18 points in the effort for Thor AK. IA moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Valur. Thor AK at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost. IA will play against KFI (#7) in Isafjordur in the next round. Thor AK will play on the road against Breidablik in Kopavogur and hopes to get finally their first victory.
