Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Elitzur Holon (2-7) was outscored on the road by leader Maccabi Ashdod (9-0) 87-48 on Monday. The game without a history. Maccabi Ashdod led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Elitzur Holon to just 5 points in fourth quarter and to 13 points in second half. Maccabi Ashdod dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Elitzur Holon's 24. Maccabi Ashdod forced 19 Elitzur Holon turnovers and outrebounded them 48-25 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Maccabi Ashdod looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Elitzur Holon's players. It was a good game for naturalized American forward Alysha Clark (178-87, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who led her team to a victory with 25 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. FYR Macedonian Jelena Antic (187-91, college: Liberty) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Five Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. Maccabi Ashdod's coach Eliyahu Rabi felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Courtney Clements (183-89, college: San Diego St.) answered with 20 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import swingman Sheana Mosch (177-81, college: Duke) added 15 points in the effort for Elitzur Holon. Maccabi Ashdod have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 9-0 record. Elitzur Holon lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with seven games lost. Maccabi Ashdod will face Ramat Hasharon (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Elitzur Holon will play against Elitzur Ramla and hope to win that game.
