Second Stage Round 8: Shanxi - Beijing 70-58

There was a change at the WCBA leadership position after last games. Round 8 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Beijing Great Wall (13-3). They were defeated by fourth ranked Shanxi Rui Flame (11-5) 70-58 on Tuesday night. The game without a history. Shanxi Rui Flame led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Shanxi Rui Flame outrebounded Beijing Great Wall 37-20 including 25 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American Maya Moore (183-89, college: Connecticut) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds and international power forward XueYa Ma (190-93) who added 11 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. American center Brittney Griner (203-90, college: Baylor) responded with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks and international power forward XiaoYu Sun (190-84) scored 10 points. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Beijing Great Wall at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Liaoning. Beijing Great Wall will play next round against league's leader Shanghai Octopus trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Shanxi Rui Flame will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Bayi Kylin in Yinzhou.
