There was a minor upset in Sao Paolo where higher ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (6-5) was defeated by tenth ranked Paulistano (6-5) 89-71 on Tuesday. The game without a history. Paulistano led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Paulistano forced 19 Sao Jose/Vinac turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) who scored 20 points and 4 assists. Pilar Alves (201-84) chipped in 10 points and 5 assists. Four Paulistano players scored in double figures. The former international power forward William Drudi (206-81) produced 14 points and the former international Dede Stefanelli (196-84) added 13 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Paulistano moved-up to seventh place, which they share with S.Jose/Unimed. Paulistano will face higher ranked Mogi (#6) in Mogi das Cruzes in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
