Regular Season Round 11: Macae - Basquete Cearense 78-77

A very close game took place in Macae between Macae and SKY/Basquete. Fourteenth ranked Macae (3-7) got a very close home victory over 12th ranked SKY/Basquete (2-7). Macae managed to escape with a 1-point win 78-77 on Tuesday evening. SKY/Basquete was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 28-21 charge of Macae, which allowed them to win the game. They made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American point guard Jamaal Smith (175-85, college: N.Mexico) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international Marcio Dornelles (196-75) helped adding 16 points. Andrezao de Sousa (198-90) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Jeferson Froehlich (193-91) scored 9 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. SKY/Basquete's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Macae moved-up to twelfth place. Loser SKY/Basquete dropped to the fourteenth position with seven games lost. Macae will meet at home Brasilia (#15) in the next round. SKY/Basquete will play against Flamengo and will have a slim chance for a victory.
