Regular Season Round 14: Cieszyn - MKS DG 2 95-89

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 9th ranked MKS DG 2 (4-9) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Cieszyn (3-10) 95-89 on Wednesday. MKS DG 2 was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 30-22 charge of Cieszyn, which allowed them to win the game. They made 30-of-36 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. MKS DG 2 was plagued by 33 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Tomasz Czajkowski (204-82) had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 18 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and center Michal Sadlo (205-94) chipped in 21 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Center Adam Metelski (206-83, college: Cal-Irvine) responded with 24 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Grzegorz Malecki (195-84, agency: Promotex) scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Cieszyn and four MKS DG 2 players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Cieszyn maintains tenth position in Group C with 3-10 record. Newly promoted MKS DG 2 keeps the ninth place with nine games lost. Cieszyn will face higher ranked AZS PCz (#7) in Czestochowa in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
