Regular Season Round 11: Minas - Limeira 72-85

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Belo Horizonte. First ranked Winner/Limeira faced 3rd placed Minas. Guests from Limeira (10-1) defeated host Minas (7-4) 85-72. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Winner/Limeira made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard David Jackson (185-82, college: Penn St.) who scored 19 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. The former international point guard Welington Dos Santos (185-81) chipped in 16 points and 9 assists. point guard Henrique Coelho (183-93) produced 19 points and 5 assists (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) and the former international Bruno Irigoyen (196-92) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Minas players scored in double figures. Minas' coach Demetrius Ferraciu rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Winner/Limeira have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-1 record. Minas at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Vivo/Franca. Winner/Limeira are looking forward to face Unitri (#11) in Uberlandia in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Minas will play at home against Rio Claro (#13) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
