The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifteenth ranked TianJin Steel's (7-13) home victory over 16th ranked Fujian (4-16) in Tianjin 110-101 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 60-50 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. TianJin Steel outrebounded Fujian 45-33 including 31 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American forward Shelden Williams (206-83, college: Duke) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points and 18 rebounds and the other American import guard Quincy Douby (190-84, college: Rutgers) supported him with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 25 points by American point guard John Lucas III (180-82, college: Oklahoma St.) did not help to save the game for Fujian. Forward Linjian Linjian (198-93) added 24 points for the guests. Five TianJin Steel and four Fujian players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. TianJin Steel moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Jiangsu D. Fujian lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Sichuan BW. TianJin Steel will meet at home higher ranked Foshan (#12) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Fujian will play against Jiangsu TX (#20) and hope to secure a win.
