Regular Season Round 20: Prievidza - Inter Bratislava 66-70

Rather predictable result when first ranked Inter Bratislava (17-3) won against on the road 3rd ranked Prievidza (15-5) 70-66 on Wednesday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Inter Bratislava made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Prievidza turnovers. Strangely Prievidza outrebounded Inter Bratislava 39-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. Prievidza was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international power forward Martin Rancik (205-78, college: Iowa St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Croatian guard Petar Babic (190-85) contributed with 15 points, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Four Inter Bratislava players scored in double figures. Serbian power forward Milos Miljkovic (205-84) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and Croatian swingman Marko Batina (197-86) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Prievidza. Inter Bratislava have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 17-3 record. Prievidza at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. Inter Bratislava will face SKP Banska Bystrica (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Prievidza will play against Iskra Svit (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
