Regular Season Round 23: Halc.Rojos - Jefes 85-79

Leader Halcones Rojos delivered the eighteenth win on Thursday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Jefes (13-9) 85-79 in Veracruz. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Jefes. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-14. But Jefes won second period 25-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Halcones Rojos made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Devin Ebanks (206-89, college: W.Virginia, agency: Interperformances) who had a double-double by scoring 32 points and 11 rebounds. Puerto Rican swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) chipped in 16 points and 7 assists. Halcones Rojos' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Dan Jennings (206-90, college: Long Beach St.) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds and the other American import forward Jordan Glynn (200-89, college: SF Austin) added 18 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Jefes players scored in double figures. Halcones Rojos (18-3) have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain first place. Newly promoted Jefes keep the sixth position with nine games lost. Halcones Rojos are looking forward to face Fuerza Regia (#7) in Monterrey in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Jefes will play on the road against Halcones UV Xalapa and are hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
