Regular Season Round 11: Petrochimi - Samen 77-49

No shocking result in a game in Bandar Imam where third ranked Petrochimi (7-2) smashed 8th ranked Samen (2-8) 77-49. The game was mostly controlled by Petrochimi. Samen was better in fourth quarter 17-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Samen to just 6 points in second quarter. Petrochimi dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Samen's 26. Petrochimi forced 25 Samen turnovers. International Mohammad Jamshidi (199-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points and 4 assists. The former international Mohammad Reza Akbari Bisheh (196-86) contributed with 9 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Soheil Hosseinzadeh answered with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks and international power forward Saleh Foroutannik (207-94) added 7 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Samen. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains third place with 7-2 record having just three points less than leader Azad. Samen lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Petrochimi will play against Shahrdari Gorgan (#7) on the road in the next round. Samen will play against Naft Abadan and hopes to get back on the winning track.
