Regular Season Round 23: Barreteros - Huracanes 79-91

Very expected game in Zacatecas where 13th ranked Barreteros (4-17) were defeated by fifth ranked Huracanes (14-7) 91-79 on Thursday. The game without a history. Huracanes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three sinking 19 long-distance shots on high 51.4 percentage. It was a great evening for Nigerian-American power forward Suleiman Braimoh (203-89, college: Rice) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. The former international swingman Miguel Ayala (198-82, college: UTEP) helped adding 18 points. American center Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) responded with 14 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import Devon Pearson (198-84, college: SMU) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Barreteros' coach Jesus Alba rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Huracanes. They maintain fifth place with 14-7 record. Barreteros lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the thirteenth position with 17 games lost. Huracanes will meet Panteras (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Barreteros will play against Correcaminos and hope to secure a win.
