Regular Season Round 11: Grindavik - Snaefell 98-87

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Snaefell (5-6) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Grindavik (4-7) 98-87 on Thursday. The game without a history. Grindavik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. Grindavik looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Snaefell's players. The best player for the winners was American forward Rodney Alexander (201-87, college: Oklahoma City) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international forward Omar Saevarsson (198-82) chipped in 12 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Naturalized American guard Austin Bracey (190-90) produced 29 points and 4 assists and American forward Chris Woods (195-89, college: Pfeiffer) added 21 points and 14 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Grindavik maintains ninth place with 4-7 record. Loser Snaefell dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Thor Thorl. Grindavik will meet at home higher ranked Haukar (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Snaefell will play against Fjolnir in Reykjavik and hope to secure a win.
