American power forward Sean Carter (205-88, college: Massachusetts) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. The former international guard Carlos Toussaint (190-91) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Gigantes' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American-Jamaican forward McHugh Mattis (198-84, college: S.Florida) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds and American forward Steffphon Pettigrew (195-89, college: W.Kentucky) added 25 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Abejas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gigantes maintains twelfth place with 6-15 record. Abejas lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 12 games lost. Gigantes will play against higher ranked Titanicos (#11) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Abejas will play against Pioneros and will have a slim chance for a victory.
