Regular Season Round 18: Hiroshima D. - Mitsubishi DD 77-97

The game between Top Four teams took place in Hiroshima. One of their biggest challengers host Dragonflies (11-8) were smashed by second ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (13-6) 97-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Dragonflies. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 20 points. It was a great shooting night for Mitsubishi Dolphins especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. Senegalese-French forward Amath M'Baye (206-89, college: Oklahoma) had a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Brendan Lane (206-90, college: Pepperdine) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Mitsubishi Dolphins' coach Trifon Poch used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 16 rebounds and Senegalese center Pape Faye (200-87) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Four Dragonflies players scored in double figures. Mitsubishi Dolphins maintains second position with 13-6 record having four points less than leader Hitachi SR. Newly promoted Dragonflies keep the third place with eight games lost. Mitsubishi Dolphins will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Dragonflies will play again at home against the league's second-placed Mitsubishi Dolphins and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
