No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Minas (8-4) beat 12th ranked Rio Claro (3-9) in Belo Horizonte 82-70 on Friday. The winners were led by point guard Henrique Coelho (183-93) who scored that evening 12 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and American guard Robby Collum (185-81, college: W.Michigan) supported him with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Five Minas players scored in double figures. Minas' coach Demetrius Ferraciu used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 14 points and 7 assists by American point guard Brandon Brown (180-89, college: Montana-West) did not help to save the game for Rio Claro. Power forward Anderson Mosso (205-82, college: Chipola JC) added 15 points and 6 rebounds. Minas moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Vivo/Franca. Loser Rio Claro dropped to the fourteenth position with nine games lost. Minas will meet at home Unitri (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rio Claro will play against the league's leader Winner/Limeira and hope to secure a win.
