There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Shimane Magic (5-18) won against at home 7th ranked Takamatsu FA (7-16) 90-82 on Saturday. Takamatsu FA was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Shimane Magic had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Shimane Magic especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.7 percentage. The best player for the winners was point guard Edward Yamamoto (173-86) who scored 28 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Joe Chapman (193-84, college: Marquette, agency: I.D.S. Law) chipped in 26 points and 5 rebounds. Shimane Magic's coach Tomohiro Moriyama used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Andrais Thornton (203-85, college: NW Missouri St.) produced 17 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import swingman Justin Watts (196-90, college: N.Carolina) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Five Takamatsu FA players scored in double figures. Shimane Magic maintains tenth place with 5-18 record. Takamatsu FA lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 16 games lost. Shimane Magic will face again higher ranked Takamatsu FA (#7) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
