No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Polonia Bytom (9-5) smashed at home 9th ranked MKS DG 2 (4-10) 96-67 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 96-67. Polonia Bytom dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to MKS DG 2's 34 and made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Polonia Bytom forced 25 MKS DG 2 turnovers and outrebounded them 35-16 including a 26-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Polonia Bytom looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Marcin Ecka (184-78) who scored 17 points and 7 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Emil Podkowinski (194-88) chipped in 19 points. Four Polonia Bytom players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Bartosz Wrobel (190-95) who recorded 25 points and power forward Maciej Piszczek (202-96) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Polonia Bytom. Newly promoted Polonia Bytom maintains fourth place in Group C with 9-5 record. MKS DG 2 lost their third game in a row. MKS DG 2 at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Polonia Bytom will face Cieszyn (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. MKS DG 2 will play against WKK Wroclaw and hope to win that game.
