Regular Season Round 24: Halc.Rojos - Fuerza Regia 84-80

LNBP top team - Halcones Rojos (19-3) added another victory to their record. This time they beat seventh ranked Fuerza Regia (12-9) in Veracruz 84-80. Fuerza Regia was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 33-21 third quarter run of Halcones Rojos. They made 25-of-28 charity shots (89.3 percent) during the game. Fuerza Regia was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a quality performance of American guard Tu Holloway (182-89, college: Xavier) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!) and Puerto Rican swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) who added 21 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Halcones Rojos' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Demontez Stitt (187-89, college: Clemson) scored 20 points. Halcones Rojos have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 19-3 record. Fuerza Regia at the other side keeps the seventh place with nine games lost. Halcones Rojos will play against Correcaminos (#10) in Ciudad Victoria in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fuerza Regia will play at home against Gigantes and hopes to get back on the winning track.
