Rather expected game when 6th ranked Jefes (13-10) lost on the road to third ranked Halcones UV Xalapa (15-5) 89-82 on Saturday. Jefes trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 21-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 82-89 at the end of the game. Halcones UV Xalapa looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Jefes' players. It was a good game for American-FYR Macedonian forward Kennedy Winston (199-84, college: Alabama, agency: Higher Vision Sports) who led his team to a victory with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American swingman Antoine Wright (201-84, college: Texas A&M) contributed with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Jordan Glynn (200-89, college: SF Austin) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 15 rebounds and American-Cape Verdean swingman B.J. Monteiro (195-90, college: Duquesne) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Jefes. Five Halcones UV Xalapa and four Jefes players scored in double figures. Halcones UV Xalapa have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 15-5 record having six points less than leader Halc.Rojos. Newly promoted Jefes keep the sixth place with ten games lost. Halcones UV Xalapa will face Huracanes (#5) in Tampico in the next round. Jefes will play at home against Pioneros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
