Regular Season Round 15: Avignon-Sorgues - Bordeaux 72-75

Very expected game when 12th ranked Sorgues BC (5-8) was edged at home by sixth ranked JSA Bordeaux (8-6) 75-72 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 18 points after three quarters before their 31-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. JSA Bordeaux shot 26 for 35 from the free-throw line, while Sorgues BC only scored eight points from the stripe. JSA Bordeaux forced 24 Sorgues BC turnovers. Sorgues BC was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for point guard Gauthier Darrigand (184-82) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 7 rebounds. Naturalized Tunisian power forward Mehdi Labeyrie-Hafsi (204-78) helped adding 17 points. Four JSA Bordeaux players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American-British power forward Tafari Toney (202-86) with 17 points and 9 rebounds and guard Damir Karaibrahimovic (187-89) scored 18 points and 8 assists. Sorgues BC's coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. JSA Bordeaux maintains sixth place with 8-6 record. Sorgues BC lost their third game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with eight games lost. JSA Bordeaux will face league's leader Saint Chamond at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sorgues BC will play against UB Chartres (#3) and hope to win that game.
