Regular Season Round 14: Mitsubishi K. - Denso Iris 57-65

Leader Denso Iris delivered the eleventh win on Saturday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Mitsubishi K. (8-5) 65-57 in Nagoya. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Mitsubishi K.. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Mitsubishi K. won third quarter 21-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Denso Iris forced 21 Mitsubishi K. turnovers and had a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Yasuko Itou (160-90) chipped in 16 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. International swingman Aya Watanabe (170-92) produced 23 points and 8 rebounds and international center Chao Asako (189-87) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Denso Iris (11-2) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position, which they share with Fujitsu RW. Mitsubishi K. at the other side keeps the sixth place with five games lost. Denso Iris will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mitsubishi K. will play again on the road against the league's leader Denso Iris (#1) in Kariya and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
