Regular Season Round 13: Ironi Nes-Ziona - Bnei Hertzeliyya 90-88

Ninth-ranked Bnei Hasharon (4-9) gave a tough game to fifth ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (8-5) in Nes Ziyona on Sunday. Ironi Nes-Ziona managed to secure only two-point victory 90-88. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Bnei Hasharon won third quarter 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ironi Nes-Ziona looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American forward Craig Smith (201-83, college: Boston Coll.) stepped up and scored 39 points (!!!) (on 14-of-16 shooting from the field) for the winners and naturalized Welsh Tal Michael Dunne (196-87) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side American guard Kyle Weaver (198-86, college: Washington St.) responded with 22 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and the other American import point guard Josh Selby (188-91, college: Kansas) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ironi Nes-Ziona moved-up to fourth place. Bnei Hasharon lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. Ironi Nes-Ziona will face bottom-ranked Maccabi Ashdod (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bnei Hasharon will play against Hapoel Holon and hope to win that game.
