Regular Season Round 19: Toyota Alvark - Chiba Jets 81-82 OT

Fifth ranked Chiba Jets won an overtime thriller against 4th placed Toyota Alvark by one point 82-81 on Sunday night. The game took place in Tokyo. But the guests from Chiba were better at the end. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Toyota Alvark. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 18-17 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 1-point victory in overtime. American power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Fumio Nishimura (177-86) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists. American power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) produced 19 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Toyota Alvark's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Chiba Jets maintains fifth place with 12-10 record. Toyota Alvark at the other side keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. Chiba Jets will face league's leader Hitachi Sunrockers in Tokyo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
