Very predictable result in Changchun where ninth ranked Jilin Tigers (13-9) beat 19th ranked Bayi Rockets (3-19) 106-88 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Jilin Tigers. Bayi Rockets managed to win fourth quarter 25-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Jilin Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Bayi Rockets' 50. They outrebounded Bayi Rockets 53-36 including 25 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Jilin Tigers made 7 blocks. American guard Dominique Jones (193-88, college: S.Florida) scored 33 points (!!!) and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import power forward Denzel Bowles (208-89, college: JMU) chipped in 29 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) during the contest. At the losing side forward Yuchen Zou (197-96) responded with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks and the former international guard Shuo Han (196-86) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Five Bayi Rockets players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Jilin Tigers moved-up to eighth place. Bayi Rockets lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the nineteenth position with 19 games lost. They share it with Chongqing FD. Jilin Tigers will meet at home Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank (#15) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bayi Rockets will play against Shandong Bulls (#11) and hope to secure a win.
