There was no surprise in Tenerife where 15th ranked Gipuzkoa (3-9) was defeated by tenth ranked CB Canarias (6-6) 77-68 on Sunday. Gipuzkoa was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Gipuzkoa was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Montenegrin center Blagota Sekulic (210-82) who scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Javier Beiran (200-87) chipped in 14 points. Four CB Canarias players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Taquan Dean (193-83, college: Louisville, agency: Two Points) who recorded 18 points and 5 assists and center David Doblas (206-81) added 18 points respectively. Gipuzkoa's coach Jaume Ponsarnau let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. CB Canarias moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Rio Natura Mnb. Loser Gipuzkoa keeps the fifteenth position with nine games lost. CB Canarias will face higher ranked FIATC Joventut (#3) in Badalona in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Gipuzkoa will play at home against Valencia Basket (#7) and hope to win that game.
