Regular Season Round 24: Fukuoka Rizing - Saitama Bron. 77-74

Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Saitama Broncos (0-20) were edged on the road by ninth ranked Fukuoka Rizing (6-16) 77-74 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Saitama Broncos won third quarter 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American forward Josh Peppers (201-85, college: Cent.Florida, agency: Court Side) who led his team to a victory with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import power forward Kirk Van Slyke (208-89, college: Arkansas St., agency: KMG Sports Management) contributed with 28 points and 6 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Fukuoka Rizing's coach Jamie Duncan used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Gary Johnson (198-91, college: Albany) replied with 27 points and 8 rebounds and Vincentian power forward Nyika Williams (203-87, college: Pacific) added 19 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Saitama Broncos. Four Saitama Broncos players scored in double figures. Fukuoka Rizing maintains ninth position with 6-16 record, which they share with Gunma. Loser Saitama Broncos still closes the standings with 20 games lost. Fukuoka Rizing will face Gunma (#9) on the road in the next round. Saitama Broncos will play against Okinawa GK and hope to get finally their first victory.
